Peter Millar Announced as the Official Apparel Provider for the 2013 International Presidents Cup Team
RALEIGH, NC (September 6, 2013) – Peter Millar, a leader in the luxury apparel market, announced today that it has been selected as the Official Apparel Provider for the International Team at one of the most anticipated events in golf, The Presidents Cup 2013, to be held October 1 – 6 at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio. This marks the brand’s second return to The Presidents Cup, following 2011 when Peter Millar was the official apparel provider for the U.S. Presidents Cup Team. Peter Millar will outfit Team Captain Nick Price, Captain’s Assistants Shigeki Maruyama, Mark McNulty and Tony Johnstone, along with all International Team participants for the Opening Ceremonies, as well as provide on-course attire, including knit shirts, pants and sweaters.
The uniforms of the International Team at The Presidents Cup 2013 combine the rich history of the event with Peter Millar’s signature style – timeless craftsmanship, superb sophistication and bright hues of wearable color. The week’s events will welcome the finest in luxury apparel styling, uniquely tailored clothing and performance fabrics with the International Team donning expertly crafted tailored clothing from luxurious super 120’s wool, imported cotton dress shirts, silk neckwear, 100 percent cashmere sweaters and superfine wool pants along with high-performance fabrics.
“While we proudly outfitted the U.S. Team at the last Presidents Cup, this year it is fitting that Captain Nick Price and the International Team wear Peter Millar to symbolize the brand’s growth on a global scale. Today, we are emerging in more international markets than ever before and it is an exciting time,” said Chairman and CEO Scott Mahoney.
Additionally, Peter Millar will outfit the wives and significant others of the International Team with apparel that offers classic sophistication and an effortless nod to modern styling. Classic chic will be the cornerstone of the women’s apparel, offering cotton blend polo shirts in rich oxfords, crisp colors and feminine silhouettes as the base layer. Players will enjoy luxury cashmere and coordinated outerwear accented with delicate gold details for layering on cool mornings. All outfits will be given the finishing details of Napa leather belts, animal print flats for a pop of fashion and Italian printed scarves.
“Peter Millar has supplied us with a range and quality of clothing that is exceptional,” said Nick Price, International Team captain and World Golf Hall of Famer. “Their staff has been so supportive and easy to work with throughout the process of preparing all the clothing for our week at The Presidents Cup.”
What started in 2001 with a small collection of cashmere sweaters has now evolved into a complete premium lifestyle apparel brand featuring a wide range of casual sportswear, tailored dress furnishings and performance golf attire collections that typify casual luxury. Designed as a classic luxury American sportswear label, Peter Millar has grown to become one of the most recognized names in golf apparel.
Peter Millar is the exclusive apparel partner of “The Morning Drive” on the Golf Channel on NBC and the show’s co-host, Gary Williams. Additionally, several Peter Millar brand ambassadors, who wear the brand on the PGA TOUR, are positioned well to make both sides of The Presidents Cup roster, including two members of the International Team, Branden Grace and Richard Sterne, and two FedExCup champions, Brandt Snedeker and Bill Haas, for the U.S. Team.
