Building on the success of the Free-Inspired TW’13 golf shoes, Nike has announced a new addition to their footwear lineup. The FI Impact is the latest addition the the Nike Golf footwear lineup, and there’s a men’s AND ladies edition.
In fact, the ladies edition has had some very special help coming to fruition. Nike worked very closely with LPGA star Suzann Pettersen to develop the shoe to best fit her game. I think we can all trust that if it fits Suzann’s game, it would fit most of our games!
Pettersen came to the Nike WHQ for testing in August of last year. A big booster of traditionally spiked shoes, Pettersen changed her tone when she realized she couldn’t harness as much power without the benefit of removable spikes. The designers at Nike worked side-by-side with her to create the FI to meet her needs, incorporating designs built into the TW’13 shoe.
A quick description of the thinking and technology built-in to the FI Impact from Nike:
The Nike Free-Inspired outsole of the Nike FI Impact is designed to mimic and conform to the natural motion of the foot while delivering all the protection and traction of a lightweight performance golf shoe. This allows the athlete to keep contact with the ground longer, better harnessing the energy of the foot to the shoe and, therefore, the shoe to the ground. For Pettersen’s explosive swing, this means more control and power with every shot.
The Nike FI Impact men’s and women’s golf shoes will be available on October 1st, 2013 for a MSRP of $140 USD. The men’s will be available in Black/Metallic Silver, Light Base Grey/Black, Military Blue/White and Base Grey/Orange. Black/Venom Green will be available in January 2014. On the women’s side, White/Vivid Pick will be available at launch, along with White/Turf Orange and Black/Polarized Blue.
