Nike Golf announces VRS Covert 2.0 Driver

More distance and forgiveness promised over last year's model
Nike Golf announces VRS Covert 2.0 Driver

Earlier today, Nike Golf introduced the new VRS Covert 2.0 family of drivers.

Said to be bigger, faster and longer than the previous generation, the VRS Covert 2.0 driver is the first to feature conforming High Speed Cavity Back technology. In a nutshell, the technology consists of a massive cavity on the back side of the driver which redistributes weight to the heel and toe, allowing for increased distance and stability.

Nike Golf Director of Engineering Nate Radcliffe commented on the technology:

“We re-engineered VRS Covert 2.0 with enhancements to our High Speed Cavity Back technology that allow athletes to experience more forgiving distance than ever before. The new VRS Covert 2.0 driver features a redesigned cavity with Fly-Brace technology that ties the sole to the crown. By stiffening the rear portion of the club, more energy is transferred to the face at impact. The end result is even greater ball speed and up to six yards of distance gain over last year’s model.”

Other enhancements to the VRS Covert 2.0 driver include a larger, re-engineered NexCOR face for explosive ball speeds off the club head. The new face incorporates variable thickness for max speed at impact, plus the face itself is 15% larger than its predecessor.

Nike Golf has also packed something called ‘Fly-Brace’ into the club head to reinforce the rearward portion of the club head to focus impact stress and flexing. The tech transfers this energy back to the point of impact for added stability and distance.

Of course, you’re going to get built-in customization as well. Nike Golf’s FlexLoft system allows you to adjust the driver loft from 8.5 to 12.5 degrees, while independently modifying for three different face angle positions.
