Recently Antigua launched their Spring 2013 collection for all to see. When I noticed the announcement, I asked if the company would mind sending a sample for review, and wouldn’t you know it, they obliged with a sample. Now, after having tried out one of the polos from the new collection, I’m pleased to report that Antigua did not disappoint with the new lineup. Keep reading and I’ll tell you more!
Featured in both mens and women’s collections are a multitude of colors and styles. The polo style sent my way is called ‘Jagged’, and comes in 4 color combinations. Apple and Silver is the combo sent to me, however, Plox/Steel, Black/Steel and Lapis/Silver are also available. You’ll note that the secondary color is sewn right into the fabric, in a mini-houndstooth pattern. Open sleeves, a 3-button placket, self fabric collar and solid inside back yoke and under collar highlight this polo. An Antigua logo also brands the right sleeve. It looks sharp.
A number of new colors are available in the 2013 collection. Sean Gregg, the Director of Product Development at Antigua had this to say on your color choices:
‘For Summer 2013, the focus of pop accent colors on less conspicuous fabrications throughout the collections shows off the styling and design features of the individual garments’
The colors are vibrant, bold, and match up nicely with a variety of neutral colors.
Technology in the Fabric
The entire collection also features some nice cooling technology built right in to the fabric. Called ‘Desert Dry‘ and ‘Desert Dry Xtra-Lite‘, these technologies help the garment breathe, keeping you cool. Again, from Mr. Gregg:
‘The collections are current in both color and design trend, and are additionally embellished with performance enhancing features by incorporating Antigua’s proprietary Desert Dry™ and Desert Dry™ Xtra-Lite moisture management technology to produce collections that are both merchandised appropriately for the season while offering performance functionality’
The polo sent my way features the ‘Desert Dry’ technology, and I can attest to the fact that it’s ultra cool and breathable. Very nice, especially when you’re coming down the back nine on a scorching hot day!
First off, the fit is light and flowing. There’s no real other way to put it. The fabric doesn’t hinder your swing at all, and is overall very comfortable. Put it on, and it ‘almost’ feels like nothing. Very flowing and airy. Nice traits for a golf polo, for sure.
