One of the hopes and dreams of any golfer is to break 60. 59 is that magical number that very VERY few ever reach… that’s why when Mini-tour golfer Jesse Massie shot a 56 the other day, I nearly lost my cookies.
Jesse is a 25-year-old that currently plays on the NGA Hooters Tour’s Carolina Series. Last Friday, he managed a 67 around the Glenmary Golf Course in Louisville, Kentucky. The thing was, he wasn’t done there.
To follow up his 67, he headed back out to the course that same afternoon and carded a 16-under 56. He hit 17 of 18 greens in regulation, and only needed 21 putts around the 6,450-yard layout. In the end, he carded one eagle, 14 birdies, and a penalty stroke. Yes, it could have easily been a 55.
Unfortunately his 67 and 56 was not during competition, but still… that’s a heck of a back-to-back 36-holes for anyone. 21-under for two rounds is something to tell your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren about.
I hope to hear more about Jesse in the future. Sounds like he has a promising future ahead of him.
