With the BMW Championship getting underway today, there’s lots to talk about in the golfing world. How will Tiger do? Will Rory crack the top 30 to make it to the Tour Championship? Many questions left to be decided this weekend… but before all the hubbub can even start up, we have a little Mickelson news to report.
Yesterday, Phil chose to withdraw from the pro-am portion of the competition, citing personal reasons. He also declined to meet with the media, and will not be arriving at the Conway Farms Golf Club until Wednesday evening. That’s right, no practice for Phil, he’s going in cold.
Phil apparently cited ‘personal reasons’ for the withdrawal, and it was well within his rights to do so. Each PGA Tour player is allowed to skip two official pro-ams per year. Having withdrawn from the pro-am at the Shell Houston Open earlier this year, Phil has now skipped out on 2 such events, maxing out his quota.
We certainly hope all is well in Phil’s world… and hope ‘lefty’ quickly gets the lay of the land during his first round this morning. He tees off at 11:59AM CT.
