Mercedes-Benz has announced that Martin Kaymer is their newest brand ambassador. Just in time for his 2014 season, Kaymer will wear the Mercedes-Benz logo this coming week in Abu Dhabi.

As per usual, the term and financial details of this agreement were not disclosed, but we suspect Martin has been compensated handsomely for this partnership.

Mercedes-Benz announces Martin Kaymer as new brand ambassador

The German number one golfer has become a Mercedes-Benz brand ambassador and will wear the star for the first time during the tournament in Abu Dhabi next week. In addition to other global activities, Martin Kaymer will promote the exclusive premium amateur tournament series Mercedes Trophy.

“I am very happy to become involved with Mercedes-Benz as a brand ambassador and to be joining its outstanding family of international and national ambassadors. Mercedes is a big part of the Majors today and my main personal goal for 2014 is to also play a big role at these events”, said Martin Kaymer.

The 2010 PGA Championship winner Martin Kaymer joins defending Masters Champion Adam Scott and his German colleague and two-time Masters winner, Bernhard Langer as international brand ambassadors, together with fellow German Marcel Siem as the national German brand ambassador.

He has proven to be one of the best golfers in the world”, commented Dr. Jens Thiemer, Vice President Marketing Communications Mercedes-Benz Cars. “In addition to other activities, having Martin as a former world number one agree to represent the global MercedesTrophy in its 25th anniversary year is a great honour and provides this fascinating series with the highlight it certainly deserves.”

Martin Kaymer continued: “I am particularly proud to be actively involved in this year’s MercedesTrophy, the world’s biggest amateur golf tournament series, especially in its special 25th anniversary year. Golf is truly a global game and I know that Mercedes is committed to promoting it even further. I am now happily part of its drive to make this sport even more popular – something which is very close to my heart. Few if any sports give us a better platform to interact with each other.”

Every year, more than 60,000 players in over 60 countries take part in the MercedesTrophy. The World Final takes place every year in September in Stuttgart, the home of the automobile.

Martin Kaymer is the German number one in golf. He has won 19 tournaments since he turned professional in 2005. The highlights of his career are winning the 2010 PGA Championship and achieving number one position in the world rankings in February 2011.

Mercedes-Benz has been involved in the sport of professional golf since the 1980s. It has been an international partner for the Masters in Augusta since 2008, and beginning this year, will be one of three Global Sponsors. As a result of its partnership with the PGA of America, the brand with the star has been the “Official Vehicle” of the PGA Championship, the Senior PGA Championship and the Ryder Cup when it is held in the United States. In 2011, Mercedes-Benz’s involvement with golf was expanded through a partnership with the oldest golf tournament in the world, The Open Championship.
