It took a playoff, but Justin Rose played solid on the first playoff hole to defeat Shawn Stefani and capture the Quicken Loans National title. The win was his first victory since the U.S. Open at Merion last summer.
Both Rose and Stefani carded final rounds of 70, which was enough to put them both atop the leaderboard after 72 holes. In a rare occurrence, both players were in the clubhouse with 3 groups remaining on-course. The players putted and warmed up, and took to the 18th tee once the final group passed by.
The win is a surefire boost for Rose as he looks to sharpen his game towards the British Open in early July.
