Cleveland Golf has introduced two new wedges to their short game lineup. The Smart Sole S and Smart Sole C wedges feature Cleveland’s widest sole ever. The sole design was engineered to prevent excess digging in turf and sand for more solid contact.
So what’s the difference between the S and the C?
The Smart Sole S features ‘an optimal loft and shape to promote more solid contact and easier launch out of bunkers’. The Smart Sole C ‘promotes proper short-game technique, while encouraging crisper, more consistent green side chips with easier control of launch and distance. In short, the S is what I’d call a ‘game improvement’ wedge for the novice and intermediate player… and the C is more of a ‘chipper’ type specialty club, for those that want a dedicated club for those short pitches and chips around the green.
