Thrills and Spirit of Adventure…

A long time ago, in a country not far away (across “the pond” actually), a golf course designer / architect set out to “modernize” the game by including undulating greens, long and narrow greens angled from the center of the fairway, fairly large and free-form bunker shapes, and substantial additional contouring. His many adventures included spending a significant amount of time studying / charting the Old Course at St. Andrews.

Review: The Original Putting Alley

The Putting Alley

To make any putt, you have to get it started with the right pace and direction. The Putting Alley was built to help isolate your stroke and eliminate all other variables except those that effect direction. The end result? You’ll improve your face angle and swing path, and start more putts online.

Quality and Comfort: The Martin Golf Seville Stripe Polo

Martin Seville Golf Polo

A few weeks ago the good people at Martin sent over a Seville Stripe Polo in ‘Lapis’ for me to try. Look and feel like Ian Poulter in the IJP Design Limited Edition Tour Shirt

Ian Poulter

Of all the apparel and equipment we’ve received for review recently, none has brought a bigger smile to my face than the Limited Edition Embroidered Tour Shirt I received from IJP Design the other day.

For whatever reason, when I took it out of the package, I huge smile came to my face. Perhaps it’s because this is the real deal. It’s the same shirt that one of the best golfers in the world (Ian Poulter) wears on-course… and having such a garment for oneself lets you feel (in some small way) like a pro as well.

I found myself saying ‘bloody hell, how cool is this!?’. Yes, the shirt is awesome.

Sound Off: Which Open Championship course would you love to play?

Which Open Championship course would you love to play?

With the Open Championship getting hot and heavy this weekend, I can’t help thinking about the course at Muirfield, and indeed the entire Open Championship rotation. The courses are iconic. Challenging. Diabolical. Furious.

While I’ve never had the good fortune of playing any of the Open rotation courses, I HAVE played a course in Las Vegas with ‘replica’ holes… and am proud to say I got up and down from the road hole bunker :) Not the same though, I know.

The current Open Championship course rotation consists of nine courses:

  • Old Course at St. Andrews
  • Prestwick
  • Muirfield
  • Royal St. George’s
  • Royal Liverpool
  • Royal Lytham & St. Annes
  • Royal Birkdale
  • Royal Troon
  • Carnoustie

If you could play only ONE course in the Open Championship rotation, which one would it be, and why?

Sound off in the comments below!
