Rory McIlroy sinks 55 putts in a row

If you were watching early action from the Tour Championship at East Lake this past weekend, chances are you noticed the coverage of Rory McIlroy warming up on the practice green. The broadcasters wouldn’t leave it alone, and with good reason.

While the show was going on, they’d cut back to Rory time and again to watch him stroke the same putt over and over again… without missing. By the end of it all, Rory had sunk 55 putts in a row. Check out the video above for the replay.

For the record, after the round Rory mentioned the putt was around 10 feet. On the broadcast, Johnny Miller figured the putt was more like 7 feet. Take your pick.

Tiger and Rory take the #IceBucketChallenge

Tiger and Rory take the #IceBucketChallenge

If there was ever a doubt that Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy are good buds, doubt no more. The duo appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon just yesterday, and TODAY, they teamed up yet again for a great cause.

The pair took part in the #IceBucketChallenge to raise awareness of ALS. In a video posted on Vimeo, the pair are seen taking the challenge, and it’s pretty darn funny. Both Tiger and Rory made some interesting nominations too, so it’ll be interesting to see if the nominations come through within 24 hours.

Well done to Rory and Tiger. Good to see the ‘human’ side to Tiger as well, for what it’s worth. With the rest of the year off to relax and rehab, we sincerely hope he’ll be back in top form come the 2015 season.

Justin Rose's winning equipment from the Quicken Loans National

It took a playoff, but Justin Rose played solid on the first playoff hole to defeat Shawn Stefani and capture the Quicken Loans National title. The win was his first victory since the U.S. Open at Merion last summer.
