In a short tribute to the new Tour Championship and FedEx Cup winner, we thought it appropriate to put together a little something on Billy Horschel. We love the guy, and everything he brings to the game.
Below are 5 things we love about Billy Horschel:
5. His Style
Billy is on the RLX Golf staff (along with Matteo Mannasero and Luke Donald), and with the sponsorship comes access to some very talented apparel designs (and designers). Billy takes advantage of this, often wearing some outragious shirts and pants during a weekend on the PGA Tour. One of our favorites remains the Octopus pants he wore at the 2013 U.S. Open.
4. Clutch Putting Prowess
Horschel was absolutely deadly with the flatstick this past week at East Lake. This should come as no surprise however, dunking those uncomfortable par putts is something Billy does with regularity. During the 2014 PGA Tour season, Billy ranked 2nd on putts from 5-10 feet, converting on 64% of his attempts. On putts inside 5 feet, Horschel converted 97% of the time.
3. His Twitter Account
Billy can be found @BillyHo_Golf. And trust us, it’s a good follow. We’re hopeful that following his two big wins in The Playoffs and subsequent FedEx Cup victory, he’ll be a little more active on Twitter… we shall see. Bottom line, he’s worth a follow (he often tweets previews of his wacky pants and outfits prior to an event).
2. A World Class Game
Horschel’s game is finally reaching a world-class level. No one has played better golf over the past 4 weeks than Billy Horschel. Nobody. Strong driving and iron play, and absolutely clutch putting have made him an unstoppable force of late. I bet U.S. Ryder Cup captain wishes he could reconsider on his choices and add Billy to the Ryder Cup team!
1. Passion for Golf
Billy Horschel is one of the most passionate golfers on the PGA Tour today. You can see it in the frequent fist-pumps following a clutch putt, and the yelps of agony on a poor shot. The guy is into his game 100% and wears his emotions on his sleeve. While it can be a detrement (at times), it is refreshing to see a tour player that not only brings it, but shows the same level of emotion on each and every shot.
The future is looking incredibly bright for Billy Horschel. We’re looking forward to more clutch putting, crazy pants, hilarious tweets, fist pumps and VICTORIES in the years ahead.
Keep ‘er rollin’ Billy.
